SRNA ( $22 up $25) reiterates guidance for next three quarters

NEW YORK, May 17 (Reuters) - Serena Software Inc. <SRNA.O>
Chief Executive and President Mark Woodward on Thursday
reiterated his earnings-per-share guidance for the next three
quarters, bringing the total outlook for the fiscal-year 2002
to 98 cents per share.
In a conference call with analysts following the release of
Serena's fiscal first-quarter results, Woodward said he
expected the next three quarters' earnings per share results to
be in line with the consensus of analysts' expectations.
Adding the first quarter's results of 20 cents a share, which
beat the consensus as calculated by Thomson Financial/First
Call by 2 cents a share, Woodward said the company expects to
earn 98 cents a share.
The two-cents a share edge over the first quarter's
expectations pushed up the outlook for the year from 96 cents a
share but the forecasts for next three quarters' results were
left at the same levels.
Analysts on average Wall Street expect the Burlingame,
Calif.-based company, which makes tools used to adjust software
programs, to earn 23 cents a share in the fiscal second
quarter, with estimates ranging from 22 to 24 cents a share
according to First Call.
