If you think the purchase of Machpelah is a trivial event in the annals of Jewish history, please explain why you think so.

I said nothing about it being trivial. I don't think anything in "Jewish history" is trivial to the concerns of any people--certainly not to people who are content to assess and meet people on their own merit, rather than through their "history", color, religion, or genetics.

But if you are stuck in the paradigm of "we versus them", then I think a more important question for you to pose to yourself is: what effect has the denial of the Christian Church (at least much of it) of the ONE God (in favor of the pagan concept of Trinity), had on the march of "Jewish" history. Has the interpolation of 1 John (5:7)been sufficient to derail the Jewish God, or will the "correction" of this interpolation serve as a comeback for the God of Israel? Can Jewish Nationalism survive without the Jewish God?
