Very OT/Uh...Dabum.

We wrote the book on how to be "dumb and immature", in the late 60s! Am lucky to be alive! lol

Somehow my brain continued to work well enough on auto pilot to have an easy time of it as an undergraduate and get my BA. In fact it opened the door to a Woodrow Wilson Fellowship and Princeton University's Doctoral program. But cooler heads prevailed and instead I got an honest job.(G) EEE Gad, Isopatch as a Philosophy professor? Perish the thought! lol

Sounds like you were working the the coin shop the same time I was a broker.

One of the most interesting things was what great people many of my major clients were. Some of them helped introduce me to the kinds of property that are a joy to own as well as a good store of value during inflationary times.

One had an amazing gem collection. Ex. A 56 carat Imperial Topaz that he had cut from rough in Brazil. Enormous.

Another sold me his house for a great price. Built in 1934 by one of the founders of Jones & Laughlin Steel. He even threw in his 1926 Steinway Baby Grand to close the deal.(g) Nuff said...

Actually Dabum, my coin "collection" is a little chaotic and dusty from neglect. Some nice stuff, but don't ever have time to work on it. Maybe one of my sons will develop an interest a few years down the road and I'll give it to him.

A huge step in another catagory of valuable property...
Bot 2 absolutely superb Persian Shirvan rugs yesterday.

Along with Kazak, Kuba, other famous Caucasian types, they are among the most valuable of all handmade orientals. Major top drawer dealer I've known and worked with for years recently developed a serious cash flow problem. And as a regualar visitor I was at the right place at the right time! No hype, no advertisements, no storewide clearance sale BS(G). Just 2 men making a mutually beneficial transaction. He really needed the $$ and I got rugs I've had my eye one for a year!! But, till yesterday, were priced far far out of reach! The deal of a lifetime for this magic carpet maven.

Suffice it to say there are a great many ways to beat the inflation monster and enjoy yourself immensely in the process. Gold and silver are real money. Beyond that, we can only chose the areas where we're knowledgabel and suit our tastes and socio-economic level.

Did a little selling late yesterday and again today in lagging postitions taking ST gains in ABY and MVK. Will probably redeploy the cash in stronger performers in the PM sector or elsewhere as "Mr Market" allows.(G)

Soccer game stormed out today, otherwise I wouldn't be typing right now.(g)

Cheers,

Isopatch
