The first time my electric bill "clocked" $300 for a month I realized photo panels were the way. -g- My water tank roof is 2,400' so even if I covered half of it(south side) I would do fine even during cloudy times. I seriously am considering just panels but my wife threatens to divorce me if she has to go to the laundromat again.

We're up pretty high--2,400' elevation--so we added a Jotul stove for heat...I'll leave it to your fertile imagination as to what kind of heat it will generate.-g-
