Ausdauer,

AMD is boasting 64 Mbit multicell flash by early 2002.

WHOOPEEEEEE!

It's probably a bigger deal for them than for you... if they are able to lower their costs and more aggressively attack higher density applications. (I would really like to see how this thing works, i.e., what is the cell structure?)

A fairly recent article cited Intel's MLC Flash as only 1/4 of their sales, which says to me that, for a large part of the Flash market, higher reliability and performance take precedence over cost.

Your point is well taken, and I don't mind being reminded, that density is also a target for its own sake (besides the cost benefit) for the purpose of cramming lots of bits into a postage stamp area.
