10:30 ET Dow -37, Nasdaq -4, S&P -2.56: [BRIEFING.COM] The major averages continue to struggle with a major break higher on trading that lacks conviction. The Nasdaq has resistance at 2200 and has demonstrated a tendency to gravitate towards that level over the past two sessions. To this point in the session the Dow has traded in a very tight forty point range. The alternative energy sector is experiencing buy interest which appears to be follow through on the President's comments regarding fuel cell energy yesterday. Oil-related issues are also strong (XOI +1.5%) in light of the recent focus on energy. Financial issues continue to lag though have pulled off the day's worst levels. DJTA +0.1%... DJUA +0.6%... SOX +1.0%... XOI +1.5%... BTK -0.9%... Nasdaq 100 +0.7%... S&P Midcap 400 -0.1%... Russell 2000 +1.3%... NYSE Adv/Dec 1311/1247... Nasdaq Adv/Dec 1522/1528.
