Hey Shaw. Ya, I think the retail investors are keeping whatever cash they've still got, in their pockets.

That seems about right because I see most retail investors as delayed-momentum investors.

I think it will take a long, protracted rally to bring them back in, just about when the institutions have bought all they want at the depressed prices and are ready to sell at a tidy profit.

It's just the way it goes.

For example, Nortel doesn't look very good at $20.
but if it runs back to about $30.
it'll start to attract the retail investors.

If it gets back to about $40.
they'll be scrambling to get on board.

In most of the stocks I'm watching, trading is very thin, with sickening spreads. When someone buys a few shares, the price pops up 5%. When someone sells a few shares, down 5%.

Just some rambling thoughts on this Friday, before a long-weekend for the TSE.
