'Ron Aelick announces plans
to explore opportunities for future'
TO: Managers and Superintendents DATE: May 17, 2001
FROM: Ron Aelick
SUBJECT: Canadian and U.K. Operations
BACKGROUND: On Monday May 14, INCO announced my new role as Senior Vice President,
Canadian and UK Operations, effective August 15, 2001. I am looking forward to working with
you, and exploring with you how you and I can use this change as an opportunity to move
our business to new levels. I am committed to our making INCO the standard by which other
mining companies measure themselves.
WHERE ARE WE GOING? I have been part of INCO for 27 years and I know it would be very
unlikely that any company could match the talent and knowledge that resides with the peo-ple
who work at INCO. That is one of the reasons I will be inviting about 120 Superintendents
and Managers from the Manitoba and Ontario Divisions and INCO Europe to join me in ex-ploring
how we can achieve broad and new objectives for INCO. I will be asking this group to
come together four times between now and mid-August. We will meet in what I would like to
think of as a Design Forum. Here we will develop together new possibilities and opportuni-ties
for the future of INCO's Canadian and UK operations. I will share more details on this in
just a few days.
(The following letter was sent today to all managers and superintendents in the Ontario Division, Mani-toba
Division and Inco Europe. This is intended to have very broad distribution.
Please feel free to post and distribute.
