Good to "see" you again..it has been awhile.

In the May 21 edition of the Industry Standard there is an article titled "All Talk, No Action" about speech recognition and computers.

In summary the article points out that talking to ones computer is a long way off. The offerings to date really can't be relied on for accuracy.

The article did mention that the market for network voice applications could be 47 billion dollars by the year 2005 dwarfing the market for speech recognition for pcs.

They mentioned TellMe Networks and BeVocal that lets users "navigate menus of traffic reports, stock quotes and news". Also mentioned was Sound Advantage which allows users to "access e-mail and faxes by phone, where a server on the network reads messages to callers."

No mention of GMGC, but they should get swept along if they are still around. I was encouraged.

Just a thought
