You deftly avoided mentioning whether you were an oil investor or not..

It wasn't a deft avoidence as much as it was as it was a failure to realize that any one would think that it was relevant. I still don't think it is relevant but since you care so much I will tell you that I own no oil stocks, bonds, or options on oil company securities. I have some 401K money in an S&P fund (some oil companies are in the S&P 500) and some oil stock might be in other funds, but I would guess that my total investment in oil companies through funds would be less then $100.

and you didnt deny that Bush and his administration are completely over-exagerrating this "energy crisis" as Carter charges,,

I don't think I did but feel free to link to a post from me making such a denial if you think I made one. That would put it in context and I could get the details of the statement you are objecting to. For the record I do think that Bush sometimes exaggerates the energy situation and more then sometimes exaggerates the effects that some of his ideas would have in combating the problem, but if that is to be considered an offense then we probably have to lock up 99.99% of all politicians.

Canadian environemntal groups today suggested that Canada should force the US to conserve and to reduce their polluting of the environment by cutting the amount of oil we feed down there.. I thought that might be going a bit too far.. but now I'm not so sure.

Oil is fungible. If Canada does not cut back overall production and instead sells more to the Europe or Asia and less to the US then the US will buy some of the oil that is now going to Europe or Asia. There will be a bit of extra transportation costs but not enough to make an enormous difference. If Canada just produces less oil some other countries might produce more. If they don't the price will go up a bit but I don't think Canada is one of the world's top oil exporters. I might be wrong about that. I couldn't find the percentage of the world's oil supply that was produced by Canada on a quick google search. Do you know? Why I was searching I came across this article.

I though it was kind of funny.
