SNC-Lavalin Obtains a $120 Million Contract in Turkey
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--MAY 18, 2001 - 15:11 EDT SNC-Lavalin and a local Turkish company have, as part of a consortium, signed a CDN$120 million lump sum turnkey contract with Eti Holding S.A. of Ankara, Turkey, for the establishment of a pyrite burning sulfuric acid plant. SNC-Lavalin will be leading the consortium.
The turnkey contract comprises engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and start-up of the plant.
The plant will be built at Bandirma, Turkey where the client is expanding its production of boric acid. At full capacity, the plant will produce 750 tonnes per day of 100 percent sulfuric acid.
Work is starting immediately and the plant is scheduled for start-up in May 2003.
SNC-Lavalin has completed similar plants in Canada, Norway, Mexico and Chile.
