They make women's and youth models that aren't as heavy. Kick can be tamed by adjusting the type of powder, type of wads and the amount of shot.

I had a Remington 1100 12ga. shortened for my wife and she shot heavy duck loads in it. Never hit one but she always emptied the gun.

I grew up down the road from a lady who used to shoot full strength trap loads almost every night. 100 shots or more. Her husband built her a trap range and she used to place high in the Nationals every year. I doubt if she weighed over 100 pounds, very slender, but she could swing a shotgun with the big boys.
