I'm of the opinion that more study is needed. Certainly Bert McComas and Van Smith, two people who have been notoriously anti-Intel in their past remarks, have spent countless hours root-causing the issue. Though I doubt their objectivity and their motives, I don't doubt their findings.

I guess if Pentium 4 really is running too close to thermal limitations, the 2.0 GHz release next quarter will definitely show it (or maybe Intel will hold back its release).
