After that, it might be interesting to to use a cotton ball against one side of the heat sink, or something similar, to simulate a year's worth of of dust accumulation.

At least Intel is saved from the financial problems they encountered when their coppermine yield crash hit. With P4, they can sell all their chips as 1.7GHZ chips, even if many perform as 1.2GHZ parts on common applications.
