Do you think Intel intended to have to use clock throttling?

Now why would it be there is it wasn't intended to be used? I suggest we assume it is used and therefore the world's highest SPEC scores were produced with a clock throttled P4. Just wait untill the .13u process!!!

Why don't you read the data sheet section 7.3? What that says to me is that the thermal diode/clock throttling mechanism is there to allow system designers to design less that optimal thermal solutions, should they choose to do so. You found a posting by world class Intel bashers suggesting thermal throttling under non-extreme conditions! Surprise! Surprise! Where were you when we were seeing posts of Athlons burning up? Why weren't you raising questions then? Why aren't Dell, Compaq, HP, IBM, Gateway, etc etc complaining? Do I think this is a non issue? Yup. Do I think that's all you need to jump on the bashing bandwagon? Yup!
