I wonder, Greg, that you find it so puzzling that decent and peaceful people would want to do their part to speak for a conception of God that depicts the best that humankind have come to embrace, rather than the most primitive and the worst. Why do you feel that you are being insulted when it is your concept of God which blasphemes everything that the world have striven to make healthy and good?
My God does not threaten, extort, murder, torture, or throw dung. Many Gods do not. WHY DOES YOURS??
Your God (and others) have been making us nervous for thousands of years. The human race does not want to be nervous while people preach from a book which advocates every form of violence and depravity known to man. Even the best quotes which you offer from the bible--even these contain threats, insults, or some moral failing. It makes me weary. |
