hi joe

i've heard it said that msconfig can/will run on w2k if you just ignore the error messages and keep clicking through. but it doesn't work for me.

two features that are similar are 'task manager' and system 'services'.

right-click on your task bar and select 'task manager' and this will produce a list of all running applications, from which you can choose to end process if you desire.

'services' is a little more complex. to access it...

start\ settings\ control panel\ administrative tools\ services

there you will be able to reset startup statuses by designating either automatic, manual or disabled.

the following Windows 2000 Services Tweak guide will give you plenty of skinny on 'services'...

and finally, in order to compensate for the lack of a proper system configuration utility, i use startup cop v1.01

zdnet.com

congrats on the w2k install. hope this helps

:)
