From an investing perspective, it's also interesting to look at revenue market share.

Was:
Rough approximation for share (Share x ASP)

Intel 85% at $180 translates to 94% of market revenue
AMD 15% at $65 translates to 6% of market revenue

Now:

Intel 78% at $140 translates to 84% of market revenue
AMD 22% at $90 translates to 16% of market revenue

The improvement in AMD's position is actually much, much greater than the unit share numbers imply. They have nearly tripled their market share in terms of dollars.

A move by AMD to sell a significant portion of its production as mobile and SMP parts, while Intel "owns" the low end market could lead to the following 12 months from now:

Intel 75% at $125 translates to 75% of market revenue
AMD 25% at $125 translates to 25% of market revenue
