Re: Where are the outcries from AMDroids?

It would be one thing if any tester had ever seen such behavior, but they haven't. You are clinging to a report from someone who claims to have correctly overheard a conversation.

In the real world of first hand, clearly communicated reports, you have numerous descriptions of systems that are overclocked while at standard or even under voltage settings.

The Athlons do use more power any other X86 CPUs (except the 110W peak P4). At the same time, their power connector allow for the connection of any ATX power supply. So it is simple to upgrade your celeron or K6-2 box with its 145W power supply to a 1.33GHZ Athlon by swapping motherboards.

Such an assembly wouldn't be expected to be particularly stable, though.

Since there have never been any reports from any test of any specific system ever having the supposed problem, the story is either a complete fabrication or the result of the kind of gross misconfiguration I've just described.
