David Tice on Gold:

SageCalc: Can you explain the rationale for owning silver- and gold-related stocks?

Gold and silver companies have been in a twenty-year bear market. We believe we've been in credit bubble with extreme monetary accommodation. We are on the verge of either substantially higher inflation or potentially deflation, dependent upon how the economy breaks over the next few months. In a stagflation environment, gold and silver will perform very well. In a deflationary environment, with currency instability and significant defaults, gold will be one of the few assets that are not someone else's liability. Gold will appreciate against a declining dollar that we believe is certain to occur. The dollar has been in its own bubble and is bound to decline, as it is over owned and its fundamentals are deteriorating with its record current account deficit.
