Steamy

No doubt about the hottest place to be seen this summer - it is Heinola, Finland, where the world sauna championships are going to be held. The contest? Who can last longest in a sauna heated to unbearable temperatures.

This is the latest in a long line of silly competitions organised by the Finns - previous efforts include wife-carrying and mobile phone tossing. But this one, not surprisingly, comes with a health warning attached. "Every competitor takes part in the competition at his or her own risk," the promoters warn.

The sauna will be cooked up to a hellish 100Degrees -110Degrees celsius (the normal sauna temperature is a stifling 85Degrees ) with about half a litre of water splashed on the stove every 30 seconds. The last to leave and live is the winner.
