We'd rather have a design that could run at the advertised speed with the advertised-as-acceptable thermal solution.

Either fix the design, or alert the consumer that they're not really buying a 1.7GHz processor, but rather, a 1.7GHz-except-under-high-load-when-you-may-get-half-that processor.

One or the other.

Fixing the design will probably take time, if possible.

In the meantime, Intel should own up to what's going on. Granted, it's hidden in that technical PDF, which probably covers them legally... but ethically?
