8 gauges were outlawed long before I was even born. I have never seen one. In England they still shoot 4 gauges. Now a little note here. In the US we load a much heavier charge than they do in England. They consider 7/8 oz of shot a heavy 12 load. That's a 20 here. I bet that 8 gauge had a lower payload than a modern 12 mag.

If you can shoot an '06, a standard 12 shouldn't give you any problem.
