You may be right about the precise words.

You're wrong about the decision. That is exactly what it says.

It's a terrible decision. I have no idea what Rhenquist and Scalia were thinking. I've read the text of the decision twice, and it's horrible.

Fortunately for many people, including myself, mny state supreme courts are likely to find that their own state constitutions provide stronger protection. I can virtually guarantee that the Washington State Supreme Court will hold differently, which it's entitled to do -- a state may offer more protection to its citizens than the federal government does. I have no doubt that other state courts will also turn away from the decision..

But SR is absolutely right about the decision, what it means, and that it's a terrible blow to basic liberties.
