A hint of consolidative behavior in the equity market can be seen in the action of economically sensitive stocks. Cyclicals, for example, are down 0.6% after reaching 16-month highs on Friday. There's also weakness in basic materials stocks, which are down about -0.5%. These stocks also reached 16-month highs last week. Weakness in these leaders can be looked at in one of two ways. First, the weakness may be a sign the equity market is set to consolidate or, 2) the market may be churning in a bullish way--the market may simply finding new leadership as bull markets do. The weakness may simply be rotation.
