It is NOT WIND's role to judge products/projects that are suitable for VxWorks.

Most new products - regardless of channel - whether they are bikes, boats, breakfast cereals, or non PC consumer appliances, will fail. That's a fact and that's reality.

What is important is for VxWorks to be positioned as the RTOS of choice for vendors developing new products.

Let the consumer decide with their wallets what is an appropriate application for VxWorks. What we, or WRS management might consider a "goofball" application could be crowned a killer app by John Q Public.

The notion that WIND loses money by developing product ideas that don't pan out is ludicrous. Or, that WIND should pare back engineering capability to meet project demands that are deemed can't miss (by whom) is equally ludicrous.

Gross margins on service business is > than 50% and much higher on software sales and royalties. WIND's doors should be wide open and their sales force should be extremely aggressive pursuing new customers and product/project ideas.
