Performance Technologies' PCI Telecom Mezzanine Card Specification is Unanimously Approved as an Industry Standard Ratified as PICMG® 2.15 PCI Telecom Mezzanine/Carrier Card Specification Release 1.0. ROCHESTER, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 21, 2001-- Performance Technologies, Inc. (Nasdaq: PTIX - news) announced today that its PCI Telecom Mezzanine Card (PTMC) specification has been approved as an industry standard by the PCI Industrial Computer Manufacturers Group. Performance Technologies developed the PTMC spec to allow for network convergence within IP-telephony and wireless applications. ``Ratifying PTMC means telco designers will now have a common platform for implementing hardware for converging voice and data applications,'' said John Grana, vice president of software at Performance Technologies and co-author of the specification. ``In platforms used by telecom equipment manufacturers, mezzanine cards provide flexibility for increased integration. The PTMC specification builds on the benefits of the existing PMC spec, while providing additional technology designed explicitly for telephony applications.'' PTMC leverages the existing PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) specification and creates a new telecom-centric adaptation by adding support of three popular telecom interfaces not included in PMC - ATM, TDM and Ethernet. Performance Technologies worked with several industry leaders to submit the specification to ensure rapid acceptance and long-term compatibility.
