Mike, I have been thinking the same sort of thing. In fact, perhaps I am guilty of thinking "treason" - I was thinking of selling some of my AMAT and buying GLW, JDSU, and NEWP (Newport Corp - "the AMAT of fiber optics" (Motley fool article, plus one in WSJ I think)). I know it can be foolish to focus too much on the percent down from the highs, but a real complicated analysis doesn't seem so great either in this complicated world of tech. It is rather hard to figure these stocks out. Most on this thread are beyond me in terms of their knowledge of the chip eqpt business, for example. The fiber optic area is either one of the biggest tricks ever played on investors, or else many of these stocks should rebound strongly at some point. I have also made changes in my portfolio such that I should make new highs well before the Naz ever gets back to its old high (which is probably years away), in theory at least. I also bought stocks such as BRCD, SEBL, FLEX, PWER and SNDK during the recent "sale". All are still way off their Jan highs.

Lets hope for more of that irrational exhuberance tomorrow. I am enjoying this so far.

John
