Translating ZO: ---There is a lot of overlap (DSL and ATM from Ascend etc) ---LU/ALA Combo has a lot do get rid of the overlapping products The main problem is: There will be two telephone switches ALA System 12 and LU 5ESS. (there is a lot of costs associated with having two switches). They can't get rid of 5ESS, due to the huge installed base in the US they have to support. But they most likely can get rid of System 12 which means sacking a lot fo people in France. We must note that such merger will prompt NT to do something about it.
