Completely OT. Re. privacy, etc.

There are a couple of alternatives.

1. If you don't carry a balance, you can always opt to not
use the credit card except where you got to (e.g. car
rental) or when the benefits are significant (free
insurance).

BTW, why do people routinely carry credit card balances and
still invest in stocks ? It's not like stocks guarantee a
20% return.

2. Get a 1-900 number. You may even begin to enjoy those
long chats...

BTW, Using a bogus tel# is no solution. The stores refine
the data all the time with many data sources.

3. Invest in a data mining software vendor. CRM too.

There is no more privacy - and we may just get over it and
look for ways to benefit from it. It may be that businesses
will make some major goof such as reveal one's shopping
habits to the spouse or something like that. But until they
get sued or something, I don't see a way around.

OTOH, I think this clickstream analysis thing is way
overblown. We just went through this Internet business
model thing only recently, didn't we ?

(Incidently, there are many others who collect and resell
personal info. Such as, headhunters.)
