Brightpoint and Sierra Wireless Enter Agreement to Distribute Wireless Data Products in the United States

INDIANAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 22, 2001--Brightpoint, Inc. (NASDAQ:CELL - news) announced that its subsidiary, Brightpoint North America L.P., has entered into an agreement with Sierra Wireless, (NASDAQ:SWIR - news; TSE:SW - news), a leading manufacturer of wireless data modems. Under the agreement, Brightpoint will distribute Sierra Wireless's data modems and software products to wireless carriers, retailers and value added resellers (VARS) in the United States.
Brightpoint will be part of the Sierra Wireless Channel Connections program, which is designed to provide channel partners who are looking to grow their sales in wireless data products and services with superior tools, training, support and expertise, facilitating their ability to develop innovative and leading-edge wireless data products and solutions.
Sierra Wireless products include wireless PC Cards for portable computers, wireless adapters for PDA's, OEM modules for embedded applications and rugged vehicle-mounted wireless systems, all of which are researched and developed in-house at Sierra Wireless.
