| OpenTV says software now deployed in 16 mln homes MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., May 21 (Reuters) - Interactive television software maker OpenTV Corp. (Nasdaq:OPTV - news) on Monday said its software is now installed in 16 million digital set-top boxes worldwide, more than double the amount deployed a year earlier.

Much of the growth was due to its pacts with DirectTV Latin America, EchoStar and BSkyB.

The company has been trying to grow its share of the cable market and sell more sophisticated software to its existing customers. OpenTV's software enables electronic programming guides, e-mail and e-commerce via set-top boxes.
