Morning update for May 22.

As I write this at a little more than one hour into the session, we are seeing the S&P trading pretty much in a trading range. We saw initial weakness in the markets right after the open, but most of our overnight plays gapped up and we sold for profits into the open.

When the S&P futures rallied around 10 am EST but failed to break to a new high, we decided to take a strategy of being short the weak sectors and long the strong sectors. As of this morning, here is our sector analysis:

Banks and Brokers showing lot of rel. strength, up a little more than 1% on the morning. Networkers, Semis, Internets all mixed and primarily flat on the morning. Pharmaceuticals, Biotechs showing rel. weakness.

Looking to trade lighter share size, take profits quickly, and hedge on both sides of the market as a proactive way to trade this trading range.
