... nodded to the flight mechanic to trigger the catapult. He did so, releasing the pent up pressure of steam in the cat. Bugs and Muffy's heads snapped back into the cushion of their respective seats, and ...

Zoooooom .... off they went, into the wild blue yonder.

Muffy, refreshed by the crisp air in her face, couldn't get that whole surreal episode with the mouse out of her mind.

"Weird", she thought. "It was just like that 'Alice in Wonderland' story they read to us back in the orphanage. But, this wasn't some fairy tale. It was spooky. It seemed so real. Ever since I met that motorcycle cop, I've been seeing things that aren't really there."

"But, a talking mouse named Ben? How absurd! Now, if the mouse had been named Mickey or Minnie, then perhaps ..."

Just then, a helicopter flew directly in front of the P51. Bugs banked sharply to the right, barely missing the blades of the big chopper. Muffy gasped! "Phew, that was close! Good thing this wasn't a P40 Warhawk. It couldn't possibly have reacted that quickly."

Bugs overheard that comment, and was surprised that Muffy would know anything about aircraft.

"How'd you know that?", he asked. Muffy began telling him about her experience with that nice Air Force man who visited the orphanage regularly, and chose one of them to go up for a flight once every month. She never understood why he only chose the young girls. Wouldn't the boys enjoy it better? It's more their type of thing. And, she couldn't figure out why the girls were so quiet about their experience when they returned. She finally figured it out when she was finally the "lucky" one chosen for a flight.

Bugs had been listening to the first part of her story, but quickly lost interest. He was more intent on keeping an eye on that chopper. It stayed in the same general vicinity as the P51. Bugs banked left, the chopper followed. Bugs took it down to 100 feet above the ground. The chopper followed.

"... now?". Muffy's words were lost in the drone of aircraft engines. She repeated herself. "Where the heck are we going now?"

Bugs yelled back at her, "We're headed for PEST headquarters, to talk to the big cheese."

Muffy thought, "Oh, man .. is this going to be another mouse episode?"

"But, why?", asked Muffy.

"To work out our plan of attack against this sinister plot to destroy perfectly innocent BB companies. Our fearless leader will have a plan. He always does."

"Who's in charge?", asked Muffy.

"You really don't know, do you?", responded Bugs. Bugs wondered why the boss was so intent on capturing this obviously scatterbrained nymphet. She's not too swift.

"No, I don't! So, tell me!", responded Muffy, somewhat indignant that she was being patronized.

"PEST Control!", shouted Bugs, as he maneuvered the P51 towards the landing strip.

Muffy thought the big cockroach on the sign by the tower looked familiar. "Hey ... that's Elmo's place!" she yelled!
