Short this one... 15:20 ET Avant! (AVNT) 17.84 -0.71 (-3.8%): Stock has been halted for trading since mid-day -- news pending. The San Jose Mercury News is reporting that 7 Avant executives have pleaded no contest to stealing trade secrets and agreed to pay millions of dollars in fines to settle litigation with Cadence Design Systems (CDN). Avant as a corporation pleaded guilty to trade secrets theft and securities fraud and will pay a $27 mln fine.
