WAP has nothing to do with "temperature", that is,
if the handset has the capabilty to transmit using
all timeslots for GSM, GPRS. For US-TDMA multi
slot isn't really a smart idea anyway (too few time
slots, too narrow band, 30kHz vs GSM 200kHz)

But it, IMO, gives a clue that Nokia is including
temperature measurements in the handsets, something
important where the sun is hot as well as
when really cold (compare car industry)

My (old) point that it doesn't take a genius to figure
out that one can limit both SAR, PA temperature and battery
drain for GPRS as well as 3G by

- obviously knowing how much one transmits, at what level
- measuring the ambient temperature.
- measuring the capacity, time since charge for the
battery.

The internal temperature of handset, battery has
been available in GSM handsets for a long time,
part of quick, intelligent battery chargers,etc..
(just like on hot pentium, athlon motherboards)

That is, all part of the "customer experience", just
like being able to find the usual functions without
reading the 100 page detailed manual..
(glory to Xerox, MAC and very much later MSFT, and
also to Motorola noting that one should be able to
acess the important functions with less than 4
key strokes)
