DS --Is it too far fetched to consider that China money may be behind Syquest's survival?

If you're making a practice of *strategic loans/contributions* to foreign political campaigns, is it much of a stretch to try and aquire technology by *helping out* a foreign tech company on the financial ropes?

(Purely speculation on my part and nothing I would go to any length to defend)
