They could be buying the entire position of 6.85 million shares of Newmont to liquidate over months instead of Noranda dumping it on the market all at once. Noranda really made out very well selling their stake in Battle Mountain to Newmont, and is now redeploying capital. Maybe when/if Noranda does an acquisition CSFB might be their investment banker ? It might just be a simple financial transaction with Newmont shares being the currency, not really a gold investment by CFSB.
