Hi Gene P,

This Dell news is somewhat surprising to my Mom & Pop eyes. Do you think I would be incorrect to assume that Dell is basing these comments on what it is hearing from customers, rather than suppliers?

My knee jerk reaction is to assume that customers indicating a "pass" on current product offerings in favor of buying when new operating system and CPU/Memory options are available. I don't see how "price conscious" purchases would be delayed into the 4th Qtr. Can prices be any lower in December?

Of course it is just an "indication" of what customers will in fact do. But I also assume that Dell's comment could not be made based exclusively on the input of server/workstation customers. I don't know their distributions within your referenced PC Segments, but I assume that it would take improvement in more than their high end products to produce the 4th Qtr "turn" referenced.

P.S. I certainly agree. The degree of spectator interest in the entire tech market is huge. Nothing like it as far as I am concerned. Much better than Cattle v Sheep in Montana.<vbg>
