PRI Automation OEM Systems Division Ships 40,000th Wafer-Handling Component

BILLERICA, Mass., May 23, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- PRI Automation, Inc. (NASD: PRIA), a global leader in advanced automation systems, software, and services to the semiconductor industry, today announced that its OEM Systems Division recently shipped its 40,000th wafer-handling component. This achievement comes less than one year after the division announced the shipment of its 30,000th wafer-handling component.

"PRI's OEM Systems Division has established an industry-leading benchmark of six to eight week manufacturing lead times," said Robert de Neve, vice president and general manager of PRI's OEM System Division. "We are a leader in the OEM market because we provide our customers with unique manufacturing linearity and a reduced time to market through extremely efficient manufacturing operations and cutting-edge engineering innovation for our wafer-handling systems."

Flexible manufacturing systems and adherence to design for manufacturability (DFM) have been the key factors in enabling the OEM Systems Division to meet the division's record level of growth during the past year while maintaining its short lead times. Reliability, world-class support, and user-friendly software have strengthened PRI's position as the market leader in atmospheric wafer-handling systems. Gartner/Dataquest's recently published 2000 Market Share Survey shows PRI with approximately 72 percent worldwide market share in atmospheric components.
