According to the little stick that was with the plant, it's a Treasure Red Ornamental Pepper, Capsicum Annuum. I've put them in a large ornamental pot out by the pool. The pot's 18" tall and the nurseryman said that what little pool water that happens to get splashed on it won't hurt it at all.

I know Mikey, my dog, doesn't go near the plants on the deck, they're too high to pee on <g> so he acts like they're not even there.

Thanks for the info Robin, I knew this was the place to ask......but now that I know there's a gardening thread, I'll check it out too.
