richard,

That would depend on a number of factors, but it really doesn't matter one way or another since Intel has said they are not going to use it in Brookdale for their P4 desktop PC's.

hdl was asking about SDRAM, not DDR. I believe Intel will still support SDRAM in Brookdale to drive the P4 down into the Value segment.

I'm not convinced that this "news" is true, but if it is, does it hurt RMBS/RDRAM? Well, it would be nice if Intel could get RDRAM down into that segment, but it's still too expensive. Intel appears to be on a mission to position the P4 across all segments, and being able to put in one 128M SDRAM DIMM instead of two 64M RDRAM RIMMs will help a lot. So it won't be RDRAM down there for now. However, if they don't support DDR, it says to the market that Intel still considers RDRAM to be the successor to SDRAM, which is a long term positive for RMBS.

The wildcard will still be P4/DDR chipsets from other vendors.
