Walsh should put his gains into trust pending resolution of all the questions. Felderhof should return from the Caymans to clear his good name.
Re: Morin case comment and subsequent discussion:
I am aware of the "rush to judgement" phenomenon, the Birminham Five case Britain (Movie staring D. Day Lewis), the Lindy ?? case Australia and a few others. So of course it is proper judicial process I want not mob rule. You are right to point this out, it's a point no one should forget, Walsh, Felderhof, and others are innocent until proven guilty, and I don't even know if there are any "official" suspects yet. My point is that right now I am reading that due to the international complexity of this case, multiple legal jurisdictions, the Cayman extradition problems, usual difficulties proving evidence trails in white collar crime type cases, destroyed records, etc, the perpretrators have a chance of getting off scott free. And that is the opposite of the rush to judgement phenomenon. (And would be bound to leave an angry public).
What I want is a thorough criminal investigation so that the process can take place. The top management, not only field staff, of Bre-X deserves the closest of scutiny don't you think. For starters, from many Bre-X news releases alone many knowlegable people in the mining field have pointed out some startling inconsistencies. If you don't think Walsh and Felderhof smell to high heaven sufficiently to warrant as suspect then please elaborate. I am somewhat surprised that your first concern seems to be a defensive posture regarding these persons who at very least have major issues of incompetence and/or possibly breech of duty to shareholders surrounding them - and have become very rich in the process. But perhaps thats not what you meant, and you were simply making the well received mob rule point?
I try to keep an open mind, but I admit I'm biased at the moment and would be unable to serve on the jury. Luckily, there are lots of other potential jurors in the country who don't follow this mess.
Thanks for listening. |
