There are two main reasons why Linux won't take over on the traditional PC after Windows:
1) There is too much invested into Windows.
2) Most PCs will be replaced by terminals before Linux can take over.

The article makes its conclusions on false facts. For instance, Linux supports more non-Intel hardware than both Windows Me and Windows 2000, and there is lot of Linux-compatible hardware out there that Windows will never install on.

Mass deployment is an area where the Linux OS is very strong, which also explains why Linux is used in so many appliances.

Linux will go the way of IBM OS/2 went. There will be a lot of die-hard OS/2 users that will never give up. Once, there were OS/2 server, OS/2 desktop, OS/2 connectivity. Linux will survive as embedded OS since appliance companies can develop their own proprietary software on a free OS. Freeware will never work because it's free and no one care about it. If freeware is the way to go then Communism should be expanded everywhere since they are the ultimate freeware model (no one owns anything, and communities own everything). It turned out that since no one own anything then no one gives a sh*t about it too. Only sick socialist European brains can image a grand scheme for ultimate freeware software model. What's the heck the European know anyway? They still think they are the center of the universe. If it is not invented in Europe then it can't be right metality still existed.
