<<business management for serious investors>>What strategies would you suggest for investors without direct access to management [No interviews] to evaluate management capabilities of public companies - particularly small caps with low profile CEO's?
To start the ball rolling, I'll kick out some answers I already know, but that still leave me unsatisfied:
News and regulator search to see if they've gotten crosswise with the law/regulators or have had high profile screw-ups.
Compare ROE ROI trends with similar players
Look at compensation -Is it excessive based on relative performance.
Look at capital allocation decisions - mergers, are they covering cost of capital and then some or engaging in ego trips at shareholder expense?
Other suggestions/ideas?
Bob
