Pretty funny... just the Austin metro area has 2X the population and 7X the growth rate of the entire state of Vermont! With long-term trends like these firmly in place, I am not worried. <grin> recenter.tamu.edu recenter.tamu.edu By the way, I think Texas is allowed to split itself into 5 different states because of the original annexation agreement in the 1840's. I wonder if this latest move by Jeffords might revive some interest in a split down here in Texas? How does 8 additional senators from Texas sound? Also, think about the impact on the electoral college! (at least 8 additional electoral votes, and perhaps a few more due to "rounding up" of the number of new congressional districts)
