Will the Democratic party stake 2002 on sniffing at Californians and telling them to carpool and paint their roofs white? No, we (Democrats and Californians) will bash Bush like there is no tomorrow for his complete incompetence at producing a clean and responsible energy policy. The problems in CA have little to do w/ energy supply; it has to do w/ a miserably ineffective, abrupt deregulation of energy markets, and the resulting price-gouging energy wholesalers. I'm all for open markets, but this was a disaster. Cheney hasn't cast a single vote, do you think he EVER will? Actually Cheney has been critical on many, many votes. I recall when he was simply staying in Congress for a few days because he had to cast tie-breaking votes all the time. - Zen
