Man, 100, Charged in Attack on Girlfriend, 38
MIAMI (Reuters) - A 100-year-old Miami man appeared in court on Wednesday on a charge of aggravated battery for allegedly pouring gasoline on his 38-year-old girlfriend and threatening to set her on fire.
``Apparently he's not quite ready for the nursing home,'' Miami-Dade Police detective Ed Munn said.
Hermenergildo Rojas was arrested on May 2 at his home after a dispute with his girlfriend, Janet Ali, six decades his junior.
Police said the two were fighting over ``other men.'' Ali broke a bedroom window and climbed through it to escape, according to a police report.
Rojas is free on $1,500 bond and will be arraigned on June 1. A judge appointed a public defender to handle his case. |
