Easy! Jesus was legally adopted by Joseph, Who was a physical descendant of David, but from a line that was cursed from ever having a physical descendants from Ascending to the throne. Mary was also a physical descendant of David, but not through the cursed line. Jesus then, is a physical descendant of David through Mary, and legal heir to David's throne by way of adoption into Joseph's line. Virgin born, to boot.
