I hope Minolta gets its act together. Their presence in the digital
camera market is diminuitive to date. I would be interested in
upgrading from my current 2.1 megapixel camera to a 4+ megapixel
unit soon. The Dimage looks nice, but I would still like to hold it
in my hand to appreciate the workmanship. I am also shopping for
a relative who is looking for an entry level camera.

I noticed the Nikon 950 selling for $499.99 at Ritz Camera. I was
hoping to see 2.1 megapixel cameras selling for significantly
lower prices this Summer given the technology is about 2 years old. But
prices have been pretty stubborn so far. It would be nice to see some
of the higher end 3.34 megapixel cameras under $500.00 and some higher
resolution offerings coming out. The migration has been slower than
I anticipated.

It appears that flash pricing is continuing it fall on back of the Q1 trends.
Saw an ad for Kingston 128 MB flash cards selling for $99.99 after
a $15.00 manufacturers rebate. Talk about pricing pressure.

As for the 8 MB bundles, I have some doubt as to the effectiveness
of these items to foster brand identity. Most of my friends who
have purchased digital cameras on-line get talked into whatever cards
the e-tailer has on hand. They purchase the upgrade to a 64 MB card
without any specific interest in the card's origin. And with card
prices in this capacity now well under $100.00 they don't really have
to think so hard about the purchase.
